A Seamless Outdoor AV Installation: Poolside and Patio Transformation

We recently met a client in the Highlands of Innisbrook who had prewired their home for an outdoor entertainment system. They needed a system that was functional but didn’t take away from the beauty of their yard. They called us to bring their vision to life.

We recommended Russound Outback 8" Rock speakers around the pool area to provide high-quality sound with minimal visual impact. Additionally, their outdoor patio already featured in-ceiling speakers, and they had an outdoor TV they were eager to install. Our task was to install the TV and speakers while also cleaning up the existing wiring mess.

Enhancing Sound with Strategic Placement of Rock Speakers

Although the speakers were prewired, we leveraged the landscape rocks to run the wires farther apart, which enhanced stereo separation for a richer sound experience. The rocks and surrounding landscaping allowed us to conceal the speakers, making them less noticeable while maintaining a clean and aesthetically pleasing look. This subtle setup offered the perfect blend of great sound and aesthetics.

Addressing Compatibility Issues with the TV and Audio Setup

The TV provided by the clients lacked the necessary optical output to extract audio from streaming sources like Netflix, Prime, and YouTube. To resolve this, we swapped it with another existing TV they had indoors, which was compatible with our audio needs. We then routed the audio signal from the TV back into the home over an existing Cat5E cable, connecting it to the amplifier powering the outdoor speakers. With the URC (Universal Remote Control) system and a convenient phone app, the clients now have full control over the AV setup throughout their outdoor space.

Tidying Up the Wiring for a Professional Finish

One of the final elements of the project was tidying up the existing wiring, which was housed in an equipment rack inside a closet but had become a tangled mess. In 1 or 2 hours we transformed the chaos into a neatly organized setup. This reduced the "eyesore factor" from an 8 or 9 down to a manageable 2 or 3, ensuring that the equipment can be easily accessed and adjusted without fear of accidental disconnections.
