Trouble Shooting An Audio Video Connection Issue, What To Look For
We recently were called to service one of our clients who had a problem with their surround sound system.
The client's previous AV Tech had installed the system, but they couldn't get the system to work. The remotes didn't respond, the sound was off, and the issues were intermittent.
The techs they had lacked the skills to troubleshoot their own installation. Worse, they created the problem by not connecting the wire to the connector correctly.
When we arrived on site, we found that there was a good deal of interference coming into their system. The culprit was poor connectors. The braids were outside of the connector and frays were sticking out everywhere. The wire was no longer shielded letting in interference and noise.
Fortunately, this was a relatively easy fix once he called an expert.
