Discrete Surround Sound, In Detail

The following is a recently completed 5.2 surround sound system (5 speakers, 2 subwoofers) where the client wanted to ensure that the audio/video system didn't detract from the home or spectacular view. The left, center, and right front speakers are Stealth Acoustics LRX83 for l/r, and LR6G ctr (due to size constraints). We are lucky. Every day we get to bring joy to our clients. There is no better feeling than the first click of the "on switch" to a new home entertainment system. The bass is low, the dialog from the TV is crisp, and our clients just smile ear to ear.

These speakers are 100% invisible and are flanking the Samsung 75"QN75QN90 QLED TV. The surround left and right speakers are Monitor Audio's CC265, whose white appearance blended nearly perfectly with the whitewashed wood ceiling.

In continuing with the clean aesthetics, the (2) SpeakerCraft HRSi10 subwoofers are located in the floating cabinet under the TV, with bottom porting so there are no visual clues that subwoofers are located in the cabinetry. The subwoofer levels can be adjusted via Bluetooth using a phone app.

The Yamaha RX-A6 A/V receiver provides the picture and sound processing, switching, and reproduction while remotely located in a rolling equipment rack in the laundry room. System control is through a URC MX990 custom programmed remote along with a URC MRF350 RF module which allows the remote to operate via radio frequency, controlling the equipment located in another room. The installation is clean and discrete, the sound is accurate, the bass plays low- and it detracts minimally from the overall look of this "room with a view"!
